Hi, I am a freelance writer based in the beautiful southwest.
I was born in Albuquerque, NM, and raised in Pittsburgh, PA.
As a hopeful teenager in the early aughts, my big dreams consisted of living in NYC as a reporter for The New York Times. I romanticized being a writer in the big apple and would just daydream about writing in coffee shops and learning the subway system as I rushed to my next destination with a pile of notebooks, my laptop, and a cup of coffee in hand—yes, I watched waaaay too many romcoms and a lot of Sex and The City.
Spoiler alert: none of those things happened, but I am entirely okay with it! I would still like to think that seventeen-year-old me would still be proud of what we’re up to nowadays.
Anyway, my big dreams of being a journalist took a few interesting turns. Along the way, I decided that I wanted to use my skills to help businesses deliver clever and creative branded content. This wasn’t an overnight decision; I spent about 12 years contributing to various publications throughout the country before I “stumbled” upon copywriting and SEO.
My published work throughout those 12 years includes print and online articles that go as far back as my college newspaper (shoutout to The Daily Athenaeum). Eventually, I became Head Writer for a local magazine, dabbled in social media management and content writing for a while, and even took my shot doing some PR for local companies. But for the sake of not romanticizing my own life, I need to point out that I also served and bartended part-time throughout most of these writing jobs. I even worked for free when was trying to update my portfolio after taking a 4-year hiatus from writing.
Fast forward to today; my recent work includes ground-up copywriting for new websites, ad campaigns, email marketing, and SEO. As a contractor, I am privileged to work with a diverse set of companies and brands that utilize my unique set of skills.
That is the short version of my entire story, but that just about covers all of the main points.
